How To Add A Gravatar Image To Your Blog

by jennlawlor on August 28, 2009

With social media marketing, everything you can do to develop your relationship with your audience helps you increase your long term network…and client base.

One of the simplest ways you can do this is to include a Gravatar with your comments and posts on blogs (either your own blog or ones you comment on).

What is a Gravatar?

It’s a globally recognized avatar, or cool image of yourself or company logo that you use to brand yourself. Scroll through the comments below and notice the images of people who have a gravatar set up. If you like their content and looks, click through to check out their sites!

Where does a Gravatar go?

Whenever you post a comment on a Wordpress blog, such as this, your gravatar image will appear next to your comment. When anyone likes the look of your gravatar (and your content!), they can click on that image and go straight to your site!

why use a gravatar How To Add A Gravatar Image To Your Comments.

Here’s how you set up a Gravatar.

  1. Set Up Your FREE Gravatar account.
  2. Make sure to use the SAME email address you used for your Gravatar account when you leave comments on blogs.  This will auto-magically connect your Gravatar image with your comment!

And VOILA! You’ve just increased your social media marketing image by 1000%.

Leave a comment below with your brand new Gravatar! If you have any trouble setting up your own Gravatar, just ask by leaving a comment below.

Ok Jen…some people have their photo linked to their sites and some don’t….do you do that within Gravatar? I clicked on the “link” tab and it just took me to my photo….hmmmmmm… Maybe I’ll put it above and see what happens….I’m just getting my blog started, but I’ll put that in above and see if it works…otherwise, I need some guidance… :)

Sheri Helvey August 28, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Nevermind…I just put it in the “Leave a Comment” box and it worked….how cool is that!?!?!?!!? Now I have to get some content on my blog….one step at a time! :)

Hi Jenn, Thaks! I agree that it is so much more fun and memorable to relate online when people post their smiling faces along with their text:)

Hi Jenn,
I registered prviously for one of these so was a little confused when it didn’t show up on my first post. When you suggested we do this I checked things out and had forgotten that these are resgistered to specific email addresses. I had used a different email address in my first post. So a little tip for eveybody is to make sure you have a Garvatar registered for all email addreses if you have more than one and intend using them in posts or elsewhere. Thanks Jenn.
